Shooting the STARS and AURORA!

My last trip before COVID.....Oh wow, it seems like an eternity, doesn't it? Well, my most amazing memories were in Norway! I had an incredible experience learning how to shoot the Northern Lights! I had never seen these phenomenal Arctic beauties with my own eyes, and to be honest, nothing could prepare me for it, emotionally. A fellow photographer helped me capture the shots below. Here are a few tips I learned!


Always shoot the LOWEST aperture you can


Lens focus to Infinity


Set exposure focus at 15 seconds for slow moving auroras and 10 seconds for faster auroras


Bracket shots to shoot aurora and landscape in 2 shots


Set ISO at 1600 and then adjust from here as needed
